One of my favorite shops in Silver City, NM is The Common Thread operated by the SW Women’s Fiber Arts Collective. Here you will find all things fiber: a sweater, a scarf, an embroidered greeting card or a quilt. It is located on Broadway just down the street from the Inn on Broadway, a bed and breakfast.
This November, this collective will be organizing an amazing event: the Silver City Fiber Arts Festival. If you do fiber arts, have always wanted to try a new craft or just enjoy gazing at exquisite items, this is the place to be. You can learn how to make a mini book, a doll or a snake. You can learn about embroidery, quilting and weaving among other topics. There will be exhibits of old and new quilts, needlework, dolls, weaving, rugs and baskets. The collective will also be displaying one-of-a-kind fiber art pieces crafted by their members. This will be a great place to begin your holiday shopping or find the perfect project to pass the long nights of winter.
The Festival will be held at the Grant County Conference and Business Center on Route 180 in Silver City, NM. The hours are 10 am – 5 pm and admission is free. Inn on Broadway will be offering a $25.00 discount on a two-night stay for anyone attending the Festival.
